Who we are
A Brief History of the Beginning of NCF Mumbai
The Naga Christian Fellowship (NCF) Mumbai traces its humble beginning to the year 1987, born out of a deep spiritual need and a longing for fellowship among Naga believers living far from home. The foundation of NCF Mumbai was laid when Mr. N.L. Mao, then Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, was transferred from Imphal to Mumbai in 1986. Being new to the city and away from the North East for the first time, his family found it challenging to adjust, especially due to the absence of a Naga Christian community.
Though they regularly attended church services at All Saints Church, Hanging Gardens, they still felt the absence of familiar fellowship with fellow Nagas. During this time, Mr. Mao and his family gradually came into contact with a few Naga students studying in Mumbai. As these interactions increased, a strong desire grew to establish a regular place of fellowship where Nagas in and around Mumbai could come together for worship, prayer, and mutual encouragement.
In 1987, with a few enthusiastic Naga students, a small fellowship was started at Mr. Mao’s residence at Pedder Road. This home fellowship soon became a place of spiritual nourishment and unity. As the number of students increased, the fellowship outgrew the home setting. By God’s providence, Wilson College Chapel Hall at Chowpatty was made available through Dr. Joseph, the then Principal of the college, providing a convenient and accessible worship space for students.
A significant milestone in the growth of NCF Mumbai was the sending of its First Chaplain by the Nagaland Missionary Movement (NMM). Rev. Dr. Nungsang Jamir, fresh from Union Biblical Seminary, Pune, was appointed as the first chaplain of NCF Mumbai. His dedicated, enthusiastic and student-focused ministry played a vital role in strengthening the fellowship and contributing significantly to its spiritual growth.
Thus, from a small home fellowship, the Naga Christian Fellowship Mumbai has grown into a joyful, united and vibrant Christian community, faithfully fulfilling its mission of drawing Nagas and people from other backgrounds closer to God and to one another.
Today, NCF Mumbai stands as a thriving body of Christ, celebrating unity in diversity, joyfully welcoming believers from all walks of life and glorifying God through worship, fellowship, and service.

What we do
Take a look at
Church Mission and Outreaches:
Apart from our regular Sunday worship services, monthly Area Connect and Family Fellowship; in fulfilling the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ, we also engage in mission and outreach activities from time to time in red-light areas, slum communities, orphanages and old-age homes.
Home visitation:
As the Scripture says in Hebrews 10: 24-25 “… let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
This is one of our priorities: visiting church members’ homes for prayer, fellowship and encouragement, strengthening one another as we grow together in the Lord.
